VHBuild Up and Running
VHBuild - the region's most
advanced and sophisticated Internet-based construction
project management system - was officially launched on
March 6. The new system has already been implemented in
a number of Housing Authority projects throughout Hong
Kong; and the Authority has commended its contribution
towards realising the goals for enhanced building work
processes and efficiency set out in the Government's Digital
21 and Construction Industry Review Committee Report.
A presentation was held on
the same date to introduce the system and its benefits to
members of the Hong Kong Housing Authority, including Mr
Tony Miller, Director of Housing, Mr Cheng Hon-Kwan, Chairman
of Hong Kong Housing Authority, as well as members of the
Housing Panel of LEGCO, chaired by Hon. Chan Kam Lam.
During the presentation, VHSoft
's CEO, Mr Conrad Wong, highlighted the system's ability
to optimise efficiency by using advanced IT tools to automate
workflow and reduce errors.
"VHBuild enables developers,
architects, project managers, engineers and other parties
involved in a project to monitor its progress online - whenever
they need to and from wherever they may be located,"
Mr Wong explained. "They can also seamlessly communicate
with each other, sharing engineering drawings and other
documentation in real-time. The system also has artificial
intelligence features which allow users to perform online
CAD drawing management tasks.
"The fragmented and labour-intensive
nature of the construction industry makes it prone to human
error and inefficiency. VHBuild is tailor-made to address
such issues by providing superior project management capability
and an early warning mechanism in the production processes.
Moreover, it has been developed in Hong Kong and is tailored
to the characteristics of the local construction industry.
So it is easy and convenient to incorporate into work processes
and gain significant benefits," added Mr Wong.
VHBuild has been jointly developed
by VHSoft Technologies Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of Yau Lee
Holdings Limited, one of Hong Kong's best-known and most
experienced construction companies, together with IT experts
from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Nanjing University.
