Competition Winners adjudicated
The adjudication of "Innovative Construction
IT Application Competition 2001", as titled sponsored
by VHSoft Technologies Co. Ltd., was held recently.
As part of the programmes of
the "Future Outlook of Construction IT" conference
held from 28 to 30 June, the main objective of this competition
is to encourage students and professionals to explore their
innovative and creative ideas related to construction IT applications
and to promote their IT awareness.
The adjudication panel consists
of Mr. Wong Ying Fai, Fellow member of Hong Kong Institute
of Architect (HKIA); Dr. Alex Chan, Vice President of Hong
Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE); Mr. Samson Wong, Fellow
member of Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS); Mr. Tim
Lai, Manager of Industrial Affairs of Hong Kong Construction
Association, Ltd. (HKCA); Mr. K.T. Yung, General Manager of
Information Technology of Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC);
Dr. Heng Li, Associate Professor of Department of Building
and Real Estate of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and
Mr. Conrad Wong, Chief Executive Officer of VHSoft Technologies.
A Champion, 1st Runner Up, 2nd
Runner Up and some merits are selected from the entries.
The Champion goes to Kan Yuen
Yi. Her design is Intelligent Material Management On-site,
which provides real-time material management on site by using
Blue-tooth technology. It is commended for its creativity
and high feasibility in improving productivity. The prize
is $5,000 cash plus a drawing design and drafting software
of VHSoft Technologies.
Li Wing Man is awarded 1st Runner
Up. Her design is a software for interior layout and finishing
design. The outstanding feature of the program is environmental-friendliness
and a high marketing value. The prize is $3,000 cash and the
VHSoft drawing software.
2nd Runner Up is Wong Hon Lung.
His design is named Hidden Treasure, which is a platform for
trading construction materials. He is awarded $1,500 cash
and the VHSoft drawing software.
The designs would be displayed
during the event at Phase II, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition
Centre on 28-30 June 2001. Entry is free of charge.
